Santos Mexican Restaurant Expanding to Wedgewood Houston
Fresh off their move to Music City, the Wallenta brothers are excited to introduce their authentic Mexican cuisine to Nashville. Dos Santos, a family-owned Mexican restaurant with three successful locations in Colorado, is venturing outside the state for the first time this year. The new Dos Santos location in Nashville is set to open this summer at the Finery mixed-use development in Wedgewood Houston, specifically at 622 Merritt Ave. Co-founder Jason Wallenta confirmed that the new restaurant will likely open in just a few months, pending final permitting efforts. The lease has been signed, and architectural plans are currently under review by the Metro building department1.
The Dos Santos Story
Jason and his brother Kris Wallenta are the driving force behind Dos Santos. Growing up, they always dreamed of opening a restaurant together. Kris gained valuable experience working in his aunt and uncle’s restaurant in Cozumel. Inspired by their enthusiasm, he decided to attend culinary school in New York at the French Culinary Institute. His time there exposed him to diverse cultures and culinary traditions, shaping his vision for Dos Santos1.
In 2008, Kris opened his first restaurant in Mexico before returning to the United States to launch Dos Santos in Denver in 2015. Since then, the restaurant has expanded to two other Colorado locations, earning a reputation for its Yucatan-inspired dishes like chicken tinga tacos and shrimp ceviche.
Delicious Offerings
Dos Santos offers a tempting happy hour menu with discounted appetizers and cocktails available all day on Mondays, as well as from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesdays through Sundays. Additionally, the restaurant features a delightful weekend brunch from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., serving dishes such as huevos rancheros, green chili eggs, chilaquiles, sweet potato pancakes, and more.
