Overview of Races

U.S. Senate Race

The marquee statewide contest features incumbent Republican Senator Marsha Blackburn seeking her second six-year term against Democratic challenger State Representative Gloria Johnson of Knoxville. Key campaign issues include:

  • Border security

  • Abortion rights

  • Economic policy

Johnson's national profile increased significantly following her involvement in gun control protests and the Tennessee Three expulsion hearings in 2023.

U.S. House Races

All nine of Tennessee's congressional seats are contested, with incumbents running in each district. Two races in the Nashville area are drawing particular attention:

5th Congressional District

  • Republican: Incumbent Andy Ogles (Columbia)

  • Democrat: Maryam Abolfazli

7th Congressional District

  • Republican: Incumbent Mark Green (Clarksville)

  • Democrat: Megan Barry (former Nashville mayor)

Both districts, which include portions of Nashville following redistricting, now lean heavily Republican. However, Democrats are mounting well-funded campaigns in both races.
