Big Changes Coming. Exciting New Developments.

Have you joined your neighbors at Wedgewood Houston Social?

Get ready, neighbors - big changes are in store for our beloved Wedgewood-Houston neighborhood over the next couple of years. The Houston-based developer Hines has ambitious plans to transform the area into an even bigger dining and entertainment destination.

One of their key projects is the redevelopment of 429 Houston Street, currently home to local favorite Jackalope Brewing Company. By mid-2025, Hines aims to convert the industrial warehouse into a dedicated retail space housing three tenants, including Jackalope which will remain. The renovation will add square footage, an outdoor patio, parking, and other upgrades.

But the biggest news is the quartet of hot new restaurants that Hines is bringing to Wedgewood Houston in partnership with Cresset Partners. Two of them, Bodega Taqueria y Tequila and Aba, will open at 429 Houston by mid-2025. Bodega is a lively Mexican spot that transitions from a casual taqueria to a buzzing bar scene at night. Aba hails from Chicago, offering Mediterranean fare with a California twist.

Just down the street at The Finery mixed-use development, we'll welcome Dos Santos (projected October 2024 opening), an authentic Mexican restaurant, and Sushi Row (early 2025), an upscale Japanese concept - both brought to us by Denver restaurateur Jason Wallenta.

According to Hines, they were first drawn to Wedgewood Houston's potential to become a vibrant, walkable neighborhood hub akin to hotspots like Austin's South Congress. With recent openings like Soho House and soon-to-open acclaimed spots like Momotaro and Pastis, our area is indeed becoming a major culinary and entertainment draw.

David Lawrence of Hines raves about Wedgewood Houston's "compelling offerings" and the "unmet demand" in Nashville for creative, mixed-use spaces like they're developing here. It's clear our little neighborhood is poised for huge growth in the years ahead.

Be sure to attend the next Wedgewood Houston Social on June 11th.
