Urgent Community Alert: Recent Car Break-ins in Wedgewood Houston Car Break-ins

Wedgewood Houston Neighborhood on High Alert After String of Car Break-ins

NASHVILLE, TN, August 10, 2024 - The Wedgewood Houston Social Neighborhood Association is urging residents to exercise caution following a series of car break-ins that occurred in the early hours of August 10. The incidents have left the community concerned and seeking solutions to enhance neighborhood security.

Eyewitnesses report that the perpetrators, described as hooded and masked individuals, systematically targeted vehicles parked both on the street and in driveways. The break-ins appear to have taken place after midnight, with at least one person acting as a lookout while others checked vehicles.

"It's disheartening to see the impact of these crimes on our community," said Christina, a longtime Wedgewood Houston resident. "Our morning walks are now marred by the sight of shattered glass on the ground, a stark reminder of the previous night's events."

The WEHO Social is taking immediate action to address the situation:

  1. Residents are strongly advised to avoid confrontation with suspected perpetrators, as they may be armed.

  2. A community meeting has been scheduled for Tuesday, August 13th, at Jackalope Brewery. The event will begin with a social hour at 6:00 PM, followed by a formal program at 6:30 PM.

  3. Representatives from the Metro Nashville Police Department are the featured speaker at the next WEHO Social to provide guidance on crime prevention strategies.

  4. Chad DiDonato, organizer of the WEHO Social Crime & Safety meeting, extends gratitude to Metro Police Department: "We value the expertise and support of our Metro Nashville Police officers and look forward to hosting this important event.

WEHO Social meeting this Tuesday is crucial in addressing our community's concerns and developing effective strategies to combat these criminal activities."

The Wedgewood Houston Social encourages all residents to attend the upcoming meeting and participate in community-wide efforts to enhance security. In the meantime, residents are advised to remain vigilant, secure their vehicles, and report any suspicious activity to the authorities immediately.

We encourage all residents to attend the upcoming WEHO Social Crime & Safety meeting:

  • Date: Tuesday, August 13th

  • Location: Jackalope Brewery

  • Time:

    • 6:00 PM - Social gathering

    • 6:30 PM - Program begins
